I seem to have a problem with heating my bedroom. I live downstairs in the house, and all of the heat from our central furnace rushes upstairs as the whole area is open--the stairs go to a split level platform between floors and there is no door or separation. I finally broke down and got a ceramic space heater with a fan for the bedroom. I have it about three feet from the bed. It has a thermostat and is cycling, but I wonder if I can make it work better for me. The area around the heater gets much warmer than the rest of the room, even with my Hunter Original running at cruising speed with the blades reversed. How can I maximize the spreading of the heat? Right now I am feeling warm and cool at the same time from different directions. I'd like to get it all mixed together. I reversed the fan because that is an improvement over running it blowing down, which just creates a cold draft before it triggers the heater to cycle.

I'm open to almost any ideas, so don't hold back!

How big is the room? Your heater might be too small.

It's in my bedroom, approximately 150 square feet, with a 9 ft ceiling.

Maybe an electric blanket is the answer--for the nighttime at least! :scarf:

You won't be able to stop the cycling unless you open the thing up and cut it off. Otherwise, it'll just have to stay as-is.

A small metal fan in front of the heater will work best. Something powerful and fast, if you have it. A setup like this will more readily mix the air because there's more force involved - the high speed blades will blend the hot and cold better. Air at different temperatures is like oil versus water... the two don't like to mix.

I have my HV-9 knockoff with the heater now. We'll see how that goes.

Nick, I want it to cycle. Don't want my room getting too hot.

Run the ceiling fan on low downdraft as well, this works best with high ceilings
